Windows 7 is amazing…

So I guess this is everything Vista was supposed to be but wasn’t.  I am using the beta of Windows 7 and I find it better, faster and more stable than Vista was on my laptop.  How weird is that… I can’t imagine how much better the actual shipping version will be but in the meantime I am replacing Vista for good, even if it is beta.

I am writing this blog post on the new Windows Live Writer which makes blogging easier than ever.  I am impressed Microsoft.  With such a huge blunder in Vista you needed to hit this one out of the park, and it seems you really did.

Spysheriff is nasty...

What is it about adware/malware that it's getting so bad its almost like having a virus. I got hit with the very nasty Spysheriff, which both AVG and Microsoft Antispyware did not fully protect me from. I followed all online guides to cleaning it, and got it mostly cleaned, but there was one residual left of it that I found so annoying and there was no information on removing properly. I just couldn't handle having it on my brand new laptop so I just had to reformat. It took me a day and a half to get myself back to where I was before.

If it hit's anyone else, here is the best I found on removal information.

A Serenity Sequel?

FilmForce has heard that, although it was very disappointed in the poor boxoffice showing for Serenity, Universal may not have retired Captain Malcolm Reynolds and his renegade crew just yet.

Awesome news, even if it's still just a slim possibility.

Comic Book Collectors; Nerdy Geeks or Shrewd Investors?

Comic Book Collectors; Nerdy Geeks or Shrewd Investors?

Something I have known for a long time. Now this of course can be taken too far, or taken the wrong way. Not every comic that comes out that looks hot is going to be valuable, but if you are a savvy buyer (investor) and choose the right issues, you can easily triple or quadruple the issue investment. This mainly has to do with hot variants as far as new issues go, or choosing important and relevant silver age issues for the older books. You definitly need to keep up on the goings on in comics and comic related projects to make the right investments.

Comic geeks of the world unite. Both of you. (Kidding, I am one of the dying few as well.)

Lost - 11/30/05

Another great episode of Lost. I have been really enjoying the pace of Season 2. They will hit you with a lot of stuff that advances the "mythology", then start focusing on characters and the quiet moments for a bit. Then they come back with major revelations and insight into the big picture. This episode had a little of both. The episode focused on Kate, we finally find out her big crime. Turns our she killed her father, blew him up good. Exactly why is still not totally clear, although he did abuse her mother and there were hints that he either abused her or at least was leaning that way. I am as interested as ever to find out all the answers though.

There was also more time spent with Mr. Echo, who is fast becoming one of my favorite characters. He is like a sane Locke, at least it looks that way. Locke has always seemed just not quite right to me. We got to see the missing section of the Dharma video, which didn't contain quite as much as I was hoping for, just a major warning not to use the computers for communication for fear of another "incident". It's just at that moment that Walt decides to IM his dad over the darn thing. Now we just have to wait a month to find out what happens next.
Darn hiatus.

Got a Cold? Stay away from NyQuil/DayQuil

Vicks changed the formulation of their popular NyQuil and DayQuil products, removing the active ingredient pseudoephedrine due to its use in making crystal meth. The new active ingredient does nothing for nasal congestion, and the entire product is less effective. Check the labels before buying your usual cold product to avoid "surprises".

Well this is no good at all. Nyquil/Dayquil had always been the only thing that helped me when I have bad colds. Crap.

Don't paint your car, skin it.

Developed by the aptly named promotional company Decently Exposed, the AutoSkin is a digitally coloured skin for automobiles. You can have high resolution artwork emblazoned on the skin which is then bonded to the car and indestinguishable from normal paint other than its at photographic reproduction quality.

This is amazing. The future of car paint jobs is in sight. I wonder of they do monkeys...

Peter Jackson's King Kong

Peter Jackson's King Kong

This is a movie initially I was not that excited about. After seeing the previews, I am suddenly looking forward to it with much anticipation.

Sean Astin, Wizard World Texas 2005

From this years Wizard World Texas Comicon, interesting panels abounded, with the sure hit being the Sean Astin Q & A. Sean was smart, interesting, and very entertaining. He told stories from just about every movie he as worked on, and we even got to see the "mysterious" Lord of the Rings fellowship tattoo he shares with the other 9 fellowship. He made us all promise not to photograph the ankle tattoo as he propped his foot up on the table, but the flashes exploded into action the second he did. It was an interesting tale of how he was tricked into showing the tattoo on national television, as the 9 fellowshipped had all promised to never allow it to be photographed. He was on E! News Live with Steve Kmetko and Steve asked to see the tattoo, saying that Ian Mckellen had shown his just the day before. Sean was surprised that Ian had shown his, but didn't want to presume he was any better than Ian, so showed everyone watching the tattoo. The next day his phone was ringing off the hook with calls from his angry friends, "What did you do!!". Of course, Sean said that "Ian showed his first". "No he didn't! You were tricked." So, Sean Astin went down in history as the first to show his "secret tattoo". At least that's the way he told it.

See him on this season of 24 starting in January. He says he was originally only going to be in about 6 episodes, however he has been talking to producers about doing more.

Monkey Space Ninja meets Summer Glau of Serenity

I had the pleasure of meeting Summer Glau at this years Wizard World Texas comic convention in Arlingtin, Texas. She was gorgeous and clearly in love with me.

She talked about how much she loved working with Joss Whedon, and would love to do another Serenity movie, as unlikely as that seems now. She is from San Antonio, so the trip to Dallas was something she was happy to do.

On the floor at the Wizard World Con, there were a few surprises when it came to exhibitors this year with a Serenity booth on the floor. Considering the movie has not done that well, I was very surprised to see it. It turned out to be a fan run booth supporting the movie run by FANDONE.COM and SHINYSHIRTS.NET. Fan's who had just put together as much fan made merchandise and giveaways as possible to come out and support the movie and television show they love so much. It seemed that Summer Glau, at least, appreciated it, as their booth was signed by her with a big thank you.

Copy-protected CDs Turning Music Fans Off Record Buying

It's becoming a regular occurrence in CD shops across the country: an irate customer comes in complaining the CD they bought won't play on their computer, and worse yet, they can't transfer the tunes to their IPod.

I see this as the first sign of a future where fewer people buy any CD's at all. It will not be too much farther in the future when most people only buy digital music.

Welcome to MonkeySpaceNinja. The name is exactly what it implies. We will offer all the features and services here that you would expect at a place named MonkeySpaceNinja.
